About 78 entrants participated in the Annual Children’s Parade held July 4, 2008 at Washington and Burton. There was a short program, highlighted by the Ascione Family, with Audrey, her daughter, Lenore and granddaughters Melissa and Amanda singing in harmony, "God Bless America."

Escorted by Hasbrouck Heights Police and Fire Departments, the Parade was led by Colonial Drummer Brendan Burke, and proceeded east on Washington to Terrace, south to Kipp Avenue and north to the starting point where medals were awarded.

All classifications and categories were registered prior to the Parade. After the Parade, medals were awarded in the categories of patriotic, most original and most artistic to: costumed children on foot, wagons and tricycles, carriages, strollers, etc., decorated bicycles, floats, and grandparents’ corner, with carriages and children on foot. Bicycle helmets were required for those on bicycles.

All participants received medals. (If your child was registered, but inadvertently did not receive a medal, please contact the Boro Clerk’s Office at 201-288-0195).

Registration was limited to Hasbrouck Heights children (and children attending Hasbrouck Heights schools) up to 10 years of age, excluding the grandparents’ corner. The event was sponsored by the Mayor’s Celebrations Committee.
