Attendees were treated to some of Hollywoods glamour and glitz as the paparazzi snapped pictures of guests coming in as they walked onto the red carpet. On Friday, August 7, 2009, starting at 7 p.m. and lasting until 2 a.m., The Free Public Library of Hasbrouck Heights held its first Family Fun Movie Night. Close to 300 people were in attendance. A great line-up of activities was planned for the entire family. There were special guest appearances of beloved costumed characters such as Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Spiderman, movie star makeovers by the Parisian Beauty Academy, karaoke singing, and an interactive game show. A total of four movies were shown throughout the evening - "Inkheart," "Confessions of a Shopaholic," "Race to Witch Mountain" and "Knowing." World-renowned spoon player Jim Cruise, known as "Mr. Spoon Man," also performed before a packed crowd. Throughout the night, the concession area offered free popcorn, nachos and cheese, soft hot pretzels, Italian ice, cookies, candies, soft drinks and water. A good time was had by all. Participants received a magnetic picture frame with a snapshot of themselves and their favorite character as a souvenir. This event was made possible due to the generous support and funding by The Hasbrouck Heights Friends of The Library. Special recognition also goes to the hard work of the volunteers, trustees and library staff for making it a memorable moment. Story by Mimi Hui. ### © 2009 The Gazette Newspaper.
